Our Story

The dream of New Hope Church began in the fall of 1998 when five families met with Pastor Mark Doss, an Evangelical Free church planter. After much prayer and discussion, this small group began to develop a vision for a Gospel-centered, truth-driven church in Adel. New Hope officially launched on Easter Sunday of 1999 with 26 committed charter members who eagerly rolled up their sleeves to transform the world one person at a time.

In April of 2000, Pastor Tom Hein began serving the body as Lead Pastor, resulting in explosive growth both in attendance and the development of significant ministries. In 2003, a Student Pastor was added, resulting in hundreds of young people impacted by life transformation through Jesus.

For a few years New Hope gathered weekly in the public school for worship. As 2009 approached, plans to build a permanent gathering place came together. As 2010 kicked off, it was finally time to move into the current location on Highway 6. Within a few years, phase 2 was complete: a desperately needed wing of rooms allowing for more effective discipleship of every age group.

Today… a discipleship focus is growing in depth and breadth as we follow Jesus together in spiritual community. The Lord is doing His great and gracious work as He brings hope to a new generation of believers. We invite you to be part of God’s story as He unfolds His purposes and plans in and through the New Hope Church family.
