• Dan Mahlum

Dan grew up on a dairy farm near La Crosse, Wisconsin. For five generations, his family was very involved in the Lutheran church in that community. While participating in the confirmation process Dan accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior. He married Sue (Engelien) in 1985. He and Sue have four children (Emily (Hildreth), David, Joshua, and Hannah). They also have two wonderful grandsons (Carson and Kade).

Dan has been a career banker and mortgage banker. He has held senior leadership positions with companies ranging in size from a community bank to fortune 100 corporations. He views this as an opportunity to exhibit Christ-like servant leadership within the workplace.

In 1999, Dan accepted a position with Principal Financial Group and he and Sue moved their family to Adel. Within a few weeks, they found New Hope Church. The welcoming and friendly community of New Hope quickly became their new church home and second family. Dan has served in many ministries at New Hope including Elder Board, building committee chairman, Worship, Men’s, life groups, AWANA, and many others.
